Claro de Luna was
a European comic book of the 60s and 70s that made up stories
about popular hits of the day. Issue 577 dealt with Yellow
River.

For the Christie song, the publishers came
up with a strange story set in, of all places, Scotland.
It tells of a talented soccer player who was the big star
in his home town of Yellow River.
He is then signed on by a big European club
and has to say goodbye to his local sweetheart. Once in
Europe, he is treated to the fast life and is even courted
by the niece of his new club's president.
But he eventually comes to his senses and feels
that he has to return to his hometown and his loyal girlfriend.
Even though all his community are dressed
in kilts, amazingly they all speak fluent Spanish.
