The music paper Disc and Music Echo presented its own special silver disc to Christie when the band sold 250,000 copies of Yellow River. To celebrate the event, the management of Christie invited the Disc staff to a special luncheon at London's swish Grosvenor Hotel.

     Out of courtesy, the band also invited the movers and shakers at CBS Records to the function, all of whom had to share the obligatory cigar and glass of expensive brandy.
