BRITISH pop group Christie is said to have an American accent and flavour and it seems the band just has to live with it.
   "Just because people associate our first big hit Yellow River with Vietnam, we have almost been branded an American group," said lead singer Jeff Christie.
   "But we're British to the core," he said.
   The other two members of the group, Paul Fenton and Vic Elmes, shook their heads disapprovingly as if to lend weight to Jeff's insistence.
   But the group agreed that Yellow River and a string of other big hits with an "American air" have brought them into the top of the pops in the US and around the world.
